Spook Hill, 5th Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853
Spook Hill is a historical, cute little side of the road attraction. It's not that difficult to find - once you arrive there is a sign that explains the legend of Spook Hill and directions to test the theory. When you stop at the line you put your car in neutral and wait.
The legend behind this spot goes that an tribe of Native American Cherokees lived on the land that the road goes through and a bull alligator began nightly visits to the village that caused fear among the tribe. A brave Indian set out to tame the beast and the near by lake was named Lake Ticowa. Years later, settlers noticed their horses laboring downhill because something unseen was pushing their carts back up the hill.
